Baby Loss Awareness Week 2023

Baby Loss Awareness Week (BLAW) is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together, to remember much-loved and missed babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.

Pregnancy and baby loss is a devastating and uniquely personal experience and for many it is a heartbreaking and challenging reality. Baby Loss Awareness week is a time to acknowledge baby loss of any kind, any gestation and to show people that every loss matters.

Wave of Light

BLAW invite you to join other families across the world with the global “Wave of Light” on Sunday 15th October, by lighting a candle at 7pm and leaving it burning for at least one hour to remember all babies that have died too soon.

Local events:

Widnes Babyloss Awareness Group will be holding a Baby Loss Awareness Lantern Walk on Friday 13th October, at 6pm at Victoria Park, Widnes.  People are asked to bring torches, lanterns, glowsticks etc. as well as a Wave of Light service at St Michael with St Thomas church, Ditchfield Road, Widnes at 6pm, Sunday 15th October.

To join the Virtual Wave of Light, take a photo of your candle and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #WaveOfLight at 7pm local time or join BLAW Facebook Event to watch the livestream. Whereever you take part you will be joining a global ‘Wave of Light’ in memory of all the babies who lit up our lives for such a short time.

It’s okay not to take part in Baby Loss Awareness Week

BLAW also want you to know that it's perfectly okay if you don't feel ready to take part in Baby Loss Awareness Week this year. It is understandable that some people can find BLAW a difficult time. Your feelings are valid, and your well-being matters most. Reach out for support if you need to.
