NHS Dental Charges to increase from 1st April 2025

As from 1st April 2025, there will be an increase in the cost of NHS dental treatment in England.

The charges are set to rise from April 1, 2025, by an average of 2.3%. The amount that people pay for basic NHS dental care is set to rise by between 60p and £7.60.

Band 2 £73.50 £75.30
Band 3 £319.10 £326.70
Urgent or emergency treatment          £26.80 £27.40

In England, you will pay one of the Band charges depending on the dental treatment that you require. You will pay one Band charge for a course of treatment.

Do I always have to pay NHS dental charges?

You are exempt from NHS Dental charges. If you are:

  • Are under 18.
  • Are under 19 and in full-time education.
  • Are pregnant or have a baby under 12 months old.
  • Are  in receipt of Universal credit, Income Support or income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance/Employment and Support Allowance.
  • Are getting Pension Credit Guarantee Credit.
  • Have an HC2 certificate.
  • Have an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate.
