Autistic experiences of post natal support research

Liverpool University are looking to explore the postnatal experiences of autistic people who have given birth.
This project aims to explore the experiences of Autistic birth givers and maternity staff who support them in seeking and offering postnatal support. It will look at the similarities and differences in perspectives of what support is currently available and helpful, whether there are any barriers to accessing support, and the impact of this.

What is involved?

  • You will be asked to take part in one interview to answer some questions about your experiences.
  • Interviews can be online or in person, this can be discussed with the researcher.
  • Interviews will be recorded for data analysis.
  • This will be written up for a Doctorate project, published, and also used to improve services.


Eligibility:

  • Have given birth
  • Are diagnosed as autistic by a professional 
  • Are 6 months minimum post-birth;
  • OR Have supported Autistic mothers in postnatal care;
  • living in the UK;
  • over the age of 18
  • has capacity to consent.


This research is sponsored by The University of Liverpool and supported by NHS ethics.
