Share your tips for Cervical Screening Awareness Week

To mark Cervical Screening Awareness Week (20-26 June), Healthwatch Halton is joining Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to raise awareness of the test and encourage sharing of tips and experiences to help more women and people with a cervix to attend.
Text, Almost 1 in 3 don’t go for cervical screening

Worryingly almost one in three across the UK don’t take up their cervical screening invitation. In Halton cervical screening attendance is at just 70% for 25 to 49 year olds and 72% in the 50 – 64 age group, meaning over 10,000 did not take up their invite.

Cervical screening isn’t always easy.  Healthwatch Halton is encouraging sharing of tips and experiences to help others feel more able to book a test.

“We want everyone to have the support and facts they need to access cervical screening and deal with an unexpected result. Cervical screening can help stop cervical cancer before it starts so it’s an incredibly important test.”

Samantha Dixon, Chief Executive, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust
